Rivonia – Sandton Loop

Rivonia – Sandton loop (Easier to use with smaller groups)

Both long and short routes leave Karaglen, past the Action Cricket onto Isando Road (M39) past Kelvin Power Station. Turn right at the robot at Parkland Drive (M88) and onto Modderfontein Road (R25) down to Esselen Park and the Silos. We turn left onto Pretoria Road (M57) and carry on straight to the Olifantsfontein intersection.

At the Olifantsfontein intersection we go left and go all the way across to R101. At the R101 both long and short routes go left, down the dip past Teasers, up Old Pretoria Road to the entrance to Grand Central Airport at New Road.

The long route

Turns right onto New Road and over N1 highway. We then carry on straight along New Road/Walton Road/Neptune Road to Main Road (the 94.7 route). We then turn left along Main, past Kyalami, Waterfall Estate to the main intersection by Woodmead and Barron & Quail. Here we turn right and first left onto Western Service road which runs parallel to M1. At the end of Western Service Road we turn right and left onto Bowling Road which becomes Katherine Drive. We head up Katherine Drive past Sandton onto Oxford Road and through Rosebank to Killarney. In Killarney we cross Riveira Road and take the next left at Anerly Road. We then head back past the Wilds on Houghton Drive to Louis Botha Avenue We cross Louis Botha onto 1st Street in Orange Grove and head back past Huddle Park and up Linksfield Road to Karaglen. The long route will be closer to 100km (rough estimate) and should take around 3.5 – 4 hours

The short route

Carries on straight to Allandale. Down Allandale to Chloorkop and back to Karaglen along Isando Road. The short route is +- 60km and will take around 3 hours
